What to Expect

What to expect from Jennifer…

“Your portrait experience with J.Shelhart will be like nothing you’ve had before. I am your one on one personal portrait professional.  You will be astonished by my level of personal attention.  I provide the royal treatment!
Here is what to expect and what’s included in your portrait experience:

Pre-session Consultations

For your first consultation, I will invite you to the studio. There you will have an opportunity to view my work and get a first look at the many products I can design for you. We will discuss the type of portrait you would like to have made. You and I will talk about the style, location etc.. Next we will discuss the rooms of your home. Having snapshots will help me get a feel of your style. We can set a date for a second consultation, in your home, if necessary. I will bring my color wheel and software to create a complementary color pallet. At this point we will plan clothing and additional elements for your portrait  You will love this!

Your Session

by this time we will already have the location of your session decided whether in studio or on location. You will also have an idea of what you want the end result products to be. One of the things that sets me apart from other photographers is that I have a specific end results in mind while I’m behind the camera. Sessions generally last between 2-3 hours. Keep this in mind if bringing children along. Have drinks or snack on hand for young children (non staining please).

Your Edits

Each image is reviewed for quality and digitally mastered to perfection before I present them to you.  I use a multitude of techniques to give your image an elegant “almost painted” appearance. Generally, I will contact you within 2 weeks to schedule an appointment for your proof presentation.

Your Post Session Presentation

We can meet in your home or in the studio. I will present your proofs on the wall, in true format.  This will show you what you’ve previously chosen. Any adjustment can then be made live. We will again review paper samples, textures, mounts and print sizes ensuring you get exactly what you want, as an end result. I generally do this in your home so you can see exactly how your art will look, on your wall, when it is completed. I will be there to answer any questions, provide adjustments and help with the decision making process.

Creating heirlooms require the use of quality products and fine tuned skills. The experience and the final result will be rewarding and worth the investment…  and the art will last for generations. Contact me for more information about products and services.”
